Treva is an 8th generation Texan who grew up on a ranch and farm in South Texas. There were always cattle and pigs on the place and huge vegetable gardens. She grew up cooking farm to table without knowing that was anything other than normal life. She started her career as a math teacher in Texas. The move to New York provided other opportunities. She used her methodical mathematical processes to be a successful recipe developer for the Food Network and Cooking Channel. Treva and her husband, John, started BeeHive Oven in 2013 and opened the Biscuit Cafe in 2014 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
John is a 4th generation Texan and also grew up in South Carolina. He came to New York in 2005 to work on “The Gates - Central Park” and fell in love with the city. He had been working in education technology, sales, and project management until he opened BeeHive Oven with his wife and partner, Chef Treva in late 2013. John handles the operations of BeeHive and is responsible for the little pieces of “eye candy” and art that hangs in the restaurant. John is the talker of the owners and many times, when he is in the Biscuit Cafe, he will stop by and say "hello.”
